Leading independent distributor all3media international has secured its first format deal with Russia’s Che Channel and the first international format adaptation for Studio Ramsay’s Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back.

The original format sees the famous chef works to try to bring failing restaurants back from the brink of disaster – all in just 24 hours. First, he sends in a team to record secret surveillance. Then, he goes in undercover to see the problems first-hand. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team transform these restaurants with spectacular renovations, fresh new menus and hope for the future. It all builds to the end of the 24 hours, when grand re-openings of these restaurants are held for the public.

Set to launch on Friday 15 February as part of the primetime schedule of CTC Media’s action entertainment channel which launched in 2015, the new local Russian version is led by top restaurateur and host Aram Mnatsakanov (pictured) and will be known locally as Superchef. The series produced in-house consists of 20 x 60’ episodes and will air weekly on Che Channel. A multi-award-winning chef and owner of seven restaurants, Mnatsakanov previously hosted the Ukrainian adaptation for 1+1 channel of all3media international/Optomen format Kitchen Nightmares, as well as the Russian adaptation of Hell’s Kitchen.

Speaking of the new adaptation, Mnatsakanov commented: “The most difficult thing is to change the mentality of people that run a restaurant. In most cases unsuccessful restaurants belong to people for whom this work has become a routine. I need to try and make them believe that their lives can be bright and interesting, be engaged in this business only and never treat their work only as a means for making money.”

Debra Bergg, sales manager, Russia, Ukraine, CIS, Baltics at all3media international, added: “We’re very pleased to sign our first format partnership with Che Channel, - [it has] selected Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back as a key headline title to complement the recent rebrand. It’s the perfect home in Russia for this fast-paced format and I know audiences will be gripped by Aram’s 24-hour journey with each restaurant owner, with drama, entertainment and emotion packed into each episode.”
